Driver hurt after rolling car over guardrail on Southern State Parkway

The Islip Fire Department responded to the scene to find a Toyota sedan flipped onto its roof in the center median.

A car crashed over a guardrail in Suffolk County on Wednesday afternoon.

The Islip Fire Department responded to the scene to find a Toyota sedan flipped onto its roof in the center median of the Southern State Parkway.

The single-vehicle crash happened on the eastbound side of the parkway near Exit 41A in West Islip, according to State police.

Upon arrival, responders from Islip’s Tactical Rescue team found the driver out of the car and only sustaining minor injuries.

The driver was transported to an area hospital by the department’s rescue squad.

State police tells News 12 the cause of the crash is unknown at this time.
