Bronx commuters who rely on the Ferry Point Park landing are being forced to adjust their daily routines after the terminal remained closed Monday because of an ongoing power outage.

The New York City Ferry website continued to display a service alert on Monday, saying the Ferry Point Park landing was closed due to an ongoing power outage. The closure has forced riders to use the Clason Point terminal in Soundview instead.

Commuters told News 12 they have been dealing with the closure since early last week, leaving many frustrated as they search for alternate ways to travel.

Mario Hiralro, who said he has lived in the Bronx for 15 years, said he has never seen the Ferry Point Park landing shut down.

"A little crazy because I think everybody use the other one," Hiralro said.

For Andres Gallardo, the closure spoiled plans to show his children, who were visiting from Puerto Rico, a ferry ride.

"We came here earlier and keep on saying two minutes, four minutes and I saw you and that's how I find out," Gallardo said.

Gallardo said the unexpected closure left his children disappointed and could have had a much bigger impact had he been commuting to work.

"My kids are sad now. We're trying to figure out how to take the ferry. I just heard Soundview, so if I would have traveled to work, I would've missed work, I would've been late," he said.

Not everyone viewed the closure negatively. Hiralro, an Uber driver, joked that the disruption could benefit his business.

"They can leave it like that because it's more money for me," Hiralro said with a laugh.

The parking lot at Clason Point was filled with vehicles on Monday as commuters adjusted to the closure. Just a few miles away, the parking lot at Ferry Point Park sat mostly empty.

News 12 reached out to representatives with New York City Ferry Services, asking when service could be restored. A representative referred News 12 to the service alert posted on the agency's website but declined to say when the Ferry Point Park landing could reopen.
