The search is on for the owner of a goat that was found along a parkway in Nassau County on Sunday.

NYS Park Police responded to a call for a female goat that had been found abandoned on the side of Ocean Parkway.

The incident happened around 4 p.m. near Jones Beach.

Officers were able to contain the animal with a rope and with a rope and brought her back to the police barracks where local animal rescuer John DeBacker met up with them.

The goat was transported to an experienced animal handler in East Meadow in hopes an owner does come forward, DeBacker says.

If no one comes forward, the animal will stay in East Meadow or rescuers will look for a new home for her.
