Federal prosecutors say a man is facing serious charges after being linked to multiple deadly overdoses in the region.

Officials say a 57-year-old man from Stamford was the first of three victims who died after allegedly receiving fentanyl sold by 50-year-old Elvin Vila of the Bronx.

According to a newly unsealed complaint, Vila repeatedly drove from the Bronx to meet the Stamford victim in the weeks leading up to his death in April 2025.

Investigators say when the victim stopped responding, Vila continued selling fentanyl to others.

Authorities say those actions are tied to two additional overdose deaths in Port Chester.

Vila is now charged with conspiracy to distribute narcotics resulting in death, along with three counts of distribution resulting in death.

Each charge carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 20 years in prison.
