A woman has been arrested for a hit-and-run in Suffolk County early Saturday morning.

Heather Foster, 50, of West Sayville, was driving a 2021 Mazda CX 5 when she hit a jogger in Sayville and fled the scene, according to Suffolk police.

As News 12 reported, the 60-year-old victim was found lying on the side of Brook Street, west of Cherry Avenue, around 5:45 a.m.

Following an investigation by Major Case Unit and Fifth Squad detectives, Foster was located and taken into custody on Tuesday morning on Cherry Avenue.

A search warrant was also executed at the driver’s home on Lorraine Circle and evidence was seized, including the vehicle from the crash, police say.

The jogger, Michele Walters, was taken to South Side University hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

Foster will be charged with leaving the scene of an accident with serious physical injury at her arraignment on Wednesday.
