A kayaking trip ended in tragedy after a Yonkers man was found dead following an overturned kayak upstate, authorities said.

State police said they were called just after 8 p.m. Sunday for reports of an overturned kayak in the Schroon River.

An investigation determined the kayak was occupied by a 21-year-old man from Yonkers before it capsized.

The incident happened near Library Avenue in Warrensburg, according to state police.

The Warren County Marine Rescue Team and the State Police Underwater Recovery Team searched the area into the early morning hours Monday.

Crews were unable to locate the kayaker overnight.

The search resumed later Monday.

Authorities said the man’s body was found just before 6 p.m.

His identity has not been released.

State police said the investigation is ongoing.
