Officials say a 64-year-old man has died after an early-morning house fire on Woodmere Road in Stamford.

Relatives identify the victim as Claude Cyr. They say he was found in a front living room of the home. Cyr's brother and daughter escaped the home with one other relative.

Cyr's brother is being treated for smoke inhalation in the hospital.

Additionally, two dogs were rescued, according to the Stamford Fire Department.

The Stamford police incident commander on scene stated that the fire broke out around 4 a.m. in front of the home.

Crews arrived to find intense flames but were able to knock the fire down quickly.

The home is owned by Cyr's mother, who was out of state at the time.

The family owned Cyr & Sons Roofing for many years in Stamford.

The State Police Arson Team is investigating the incident.
