A new viral drink has been introduced to the Boogie Down - a soft serve margarita.
Colima Taqueria in Throggs Neck is an authentic Mexican restaurant that introduced this drink to New York City.
Manager Jason Jiménez says this drink is bringing in people from out of state to try it.
"It's a taste of heaven, as people come here and say," he says.
Owner Bryan Centeno doesn't take all the credit for this drink. He says he found the idea from a restaurant in Texas. He decided to bring it to New York and put his own spin on it.
"We all came as a family, and we, we thought about recipes and started creating them, and that's how the soft serve Margarita was born in New York," he says.
The staff says they draw crowds by mixing today's trends with authentic Mexican food.
"My mother, she was born and raised in Mexico. She came out here to live a better life and to bring her family and all the recipes from our family back home," says Centeno.
Centeno says starting up this family-owned business was far from easy.
"We went through a lot of struggles…it was a home-based business at first. We kind of grew our Instagram followings, our marketing through home. We sold a lot of our tacos through our home. And we're here now," says Centeno.
With summer temperatures rising, Colima Taqueria says this trend shows no signs of slowing down- proving this creamy cocktail might be more than just a trend.
