Residents in Passaic and Bergen counties are on alert after a series of car burglaries overnight in Paterson and Teaneck.

Police say nearly 30 vehicles were broken into and two were stolen in Paterson. Many of the cars targeted were Hondas, with airbags removed from inside the vehicles. The incidents were reported along Crosby, Sherman and Totowa avenues.

Residents who spoke with News 12 off camera said they are now feeling uneasy and taking extra precautions.

Similar incidents were reported the same night in Teaneck, where police say 13 vehicles were targeted on streets near Route 4. Authorities say in at least one case, a suspect was able to enter a car and remove an airbag in about 30 seconds.

Both Paterson and Teaneck police departments say the investigations remain ongoing.
