Drivers in Canarsie say rough roads are hard to miss — with potholes, cracks and uneven pavement showing up across parts of Flatlands Avenue and East 106th Street.

A News 12 crew drove through the area and saw the damage firsthand — dips in the road, patched sections and stretches that feel worn down.

“It’s really bad — trust me. It’s like potholes all over the place. As you fix your car, you have to fix it again,” said Tessa, who drives through the area often. “I think around this area is pretty bad — especially Flatlands to Pennsylvania. It’s really bad.”

City officials say they’ve filled more than 100,000 potholes so far this year. Another citywide repair effort is planned for this weekend.

Crews are expected to head out early Saturday to fill potholes during the day, with some of the worst roads set to be repaved later that night.

Officials say the work is part of a broader push to fix damage caused by winter weather, when freezing and thawing can break apart pavement.

But it’s still unclear which streets crews will focus on — or if areas like Canarsie will be included.

For drivers here, the question is simple: how soon will these roads actually get fixed?

If you spot a pothole, you can report it by calling 311 or visiting nyc.gov/FixMyPothole.
