Fire damages Huntington Station home; one person hospitalized 

Fire officials say the fire broke out around 3 p.m. and took nearly an hour to bring under control. Eight neighboring fire departments responded to assist at the scene.

A heavy police and fire presence surrounded a home on Prospect Drive North in Huntington Station following a fire Wednesday afternoon.

Fire officials say the fire broke out around 3 p.m. and took nearly an hour to bring under control. Eight neighboring fire departments responded to assist at the scene.

Video from earlier shows significant damage to the home, including blown-out windows, as crews worked to hose down the house. Police have since taped off the area.

Suffolk police confirm a woman, Linda D'Andrade, 79, was pulled out of the house by firefighters and was taken to the hospital in serious condition.

Suffolk County Police Arson Section detectives are currently investigating the fire., the cause is believed to be non-criminal.
