The Greenport Rescue Squad lost its advanced life support authorization to provide advanced life support.

The New York State Department of Health says that ambulance services must maintain specific medications, including controlled substances, to provide advanced life support. Because the rescue squad is not currently maintaining those medications, it has been limited to provide only basic life support services.

Suffolk County Fire, Rescue and Emergency Services Commissioner Rudy Sunderman told News 12 that Stony Brook University Hospital is providing an advanced life support service provider to assist Greenport residents.
