The Peter Pan Diner, a staple in the Bay Shore community, is set to reopen this week nearly two years after a devastating fire.

A fixture for nearly 70 years, the family-owned business was severely damaged by a kitchen fire in July 2024. Following an insurance settlement, brothers and partners Peter and Nick Lentzeres decided to give the iconic diner a new look and a new menu.

Many of the previous workers who had lost their jobs are now returning.

"Our diner went through something no owner ever wants to experience,” said Peter Lentzeres in a statement to News 12. “After the fire, it felt like we lost a piece of our family. But over the last 20 months we rebuilt it stronger, with the same heart and soul that made people love it in the first place. This diner isn't just a restaurant , it's a place where the community, family and friends gather, and we're proud to finally welcome everyone back."
