‘I feel proud to be Irish’: Bay Shore St. Patrick’s Day parade celebrates Irish pride and community spirit
Crowds gathered in Bay Shore to celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day with a lively community parade featuring marching bands, bagpipes, and local groups honoring Irish heritage and pride.

The spirit of St. Patrick’s Day was on full display Saturday in Bay Shore as spectators packed the streets for the community’s annual parade.
Crowds gathered along the route to celebrate Irish heritage with music, marching bands and colorful displays from local organizations and schools.
“I wanted to celebrate my Irish heritage and pride and have a good time,” said Paul Yunek.
The parade featured community groups, students and traditional bagpipe bands, filling the streets with music and Irish pride. For many attendees, the sound of bagpipes was the most emotional part of the day.
“It makes me feel really good. I get goosebumps listening to the bagpipes,” said Thomas McAllister. “I get emotional when I hear those bagpipes.”
Beyond the music and festivities, many said the event is about celebrating culture and bringing the community together.
“I think it’s always important to celebrate your heritage,” said Andrea Gibbons. “There’s many people, many groups here celebrating today. So why not be a part of it and celebrate and be proud.”
As the parade moved through Bay Shore, the message from many in the crowd was clear: the day is about honoring heritage, celebrating community and sharing a little Irish spirit.
“I feel proud to be Irish,” McAllister said. “Not just today, or on St. Patrick’s Day, but every day.”
