Gov. Mikie Sherrill released her education budget plan for New Jersey.
The governor says $12.4 billion in state aid has been allocated for K-12 education. It is an increase of $372 million from the previous year.
Sherrill says her plan is aimed at uplifting student mental health, improving the state’s school funding formula and reducing costs for school districts.
“My budget is focused on ensuring kids in New Jersey have access to the best education and brightest possible future,” Sherrill wrote in a statement, adding that she acknowledged that “much more work is needed to make sure students and taxpayers get the best return on our investment.”
