DOT worker leaves hospital 12 days after being hit by alleged drunk driver

The state DOT worker who was hit by an alleged drunk driver in Suffolk County is home from the hospital.
As News 12 reported, Randolph Acum, 47, of Mastic, was responding to a crash on the Long Island Expressway in Holtsville on Feb. 26 when he was struck by another vehicle, police say.
Acum was seriously injured in the crash, but was finally able to leave Stony Brook University Hospital on Tuesday.
Joseph Kalinowksi, 54, of Centereach, was charged with DWI and is due back in court on Wednesday.
The driver involved in the original rollover that Acum was placing cones for, Luis Llumitasigsillagana, 30, of Mastic Beach, was also driving drunk, according to Suffolk police.
The department of transportation tells News 12 that the local union vice president will continue to recover at home.
