The Patchogue-Medford Library hosted an after-hours rock concert in the basement Friday night.

It’s part of a series of unconventional events across Long Island focused on music and creativity.

This event is shining a light on the library’s maker space, a creative hub where people have access to equipment such as 3D printers, heat presses and button-makers.

“We put this together to attract young creatives to the maker space but also wanted it to just be like a cool, welcoming event for everyone that wasn't centered around alcohol, but was centered instead around creativity,” event organizer Basia Kurlender said.

The free after-hours rock concert featured local bands Jam Poetry and Little Slicer.

Judy Strandberg started going to the maker space two years ago.

“I didn't even know this maker space existed, and now it's like it's my home away from home,” Strandberg said.

She made her entire outfit with the library’s equipment - from her Rolling Stones dress to her jewelry and her purse.

Visitors can sign up for a program or book an appointment through the library.
