Americans are expected to spend about $20 billion on Super Bowl celebrations, with most of that money going toward food and drinks.

That works out to roughly $95 per person this year.

Chef Lauren Covas joined News 12 in studio to share ways to create a Super Bowl menu that is both affordable and full of flavor.

Great dessert ideas

Covas is a first-generation Portuguese American chef and a two-time Food Network champion, winning both Chopped and Supermarket Stakeout.

She highlighted dishes that are easy to prepare and designed to serve groups without breaking the budget.

Menu ideas included Buffalo chicken meatballs, pulled pork sliders and chipotle chicken nachos.
