Andrew Caparelli, of Inwood, woke up to snow covering his property, like many other Long Islanders on Monday.

"There's a mountain of snow in my driveway. I don't know how it got there," he said.

All across Long Island, homeowners say they are having similar issues, including plows pushing snow from the road into driveways.

In Bay Shore, Dawn Wahrer is having trouble shoveling the snow that plows left at the foot of her driveway.

"I tried to dig myself out last night and the plows came last night and plowed me in again," she said.

The Town of Islip took News 12 for a ride with one of their 250 plow trucks clearing and widening 1,300 miles of road.

"The real frustrating part for our residents is that we keep blocking their driveway. It's not something we do intentionally," said Thomas Owens, Islip Town DPW commissioner.

Owens says they need to push snow off the streets to the curbs, and that blocking driveways with snow is an unfortunate impact after snowstorms.

"We don't get any joy out of it. however, that is the responsibility of the resident because as you can imagine there's hundreds of thousands of those aprons," he said.

The Town of Islip says it will have about 90% of roads clear by the end of the day, working as fast as they can to plow snow before the temperature drops.
