'I feel like I'm trapped.’ Williamsbridge tenant discusses living without elevator for over a month
Neighbors at 3467 Eastchester Road say they are living in unsafe conditions that start with a broken elevator.

From flooded hallways, stained walls and a damaged elevator, neighbors in a Williamsbridge building told News 12 on Monday they are living in unsafe conditions.
"It goes from one problem to another to another. It just never ends," said one resident named Maggie.
Maggie didn't want to disclose her last name for safety reasons. She grew up at 3467 Eastchester Road, but her fond memories have turned into a nightmare.
"It's unbearable and it's untenable. You can't live here. They make it impossible to live there," she said.
Maggie has placed three 311 tickets, but said the city has closed those tickets. She says her plea to the building's management, Eastchester Heights, has not led to any change.
"And all you get is, ‘We're working on it.’ It won't say anything more, but obviously, a month later, they're not working on it, or I don't know what they're doing," she said.
In a statement, the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development told News 12, in part, "At this building, we have issued violations, and it is now the responsibility of the landlord to correct the issue and comply with the Housing Maintenance Code. We will continue working to ensure that every New Yorker is safe and secure in their homes.”
News 12 has reached out to the building's management but has not heard back.
