The Woodbridge Regional Animal Control received a tip about animal neglect.

Police say an 11-month-old Corgi Corso was severely malnourished and covered with feces.

The dog was transported to the VCA Shoreline Emergency Room in Shelton, where they later died.

The cause of death was “severe emaciation” that could be indicative of “chronic neglect," according to police.

A second dog, a Corgi, was found and transported to VCA Shoreline.

Police say the Corgi is in recovery.

Wilfredo Lebron, 26, and 22-year-old Erica Kyttle were arrested and charged with cruelty to animals and conspiracy to commit animal cruelty.

Lebron and Kyttle were detained on a $5,000 bond. Both are scheduled to appear in Derby Superior Court on Dec. 17.
