A veteran civil rights leader is stepping down from his position as the Mid-Hudson director of the NAACP.

Wilbur Aldridge says he plans to retire after 27 years in January.

A replacement is expected to be named soon.

Aldridge also served on the Rockland County rent guidelines board for 40 years.

Haverstraw dedicated a bench to him last October.
