Police: Head-on collision temporarily closed Nassau Expressway; 4 injured

All occupants of both vehicles were taken to hospitals.

A head-on crash in Inwood that left several injured early Sunday morning shut down the Nassau Expressway for several hours, Nassau police say.

Emergency crews responded to a call at 4:18 a.m. for a car fire on Nassau Expressway and Burnside Avenue.

Upon arrival, it was revealed to be a head-on crash between a 2012 Sprinter van and a 2016 Honda sedan.

According to detectives, the van, travelling northbound, had one occupant who sustained minor injuries.

The Honda, traveling southbound, had three occupants – two who sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and one who sustained minor injuries.

All occupants of both vehicles were taken to hospitals.
