The Nassau County Police Department is facing a federal discrimination lawsuit filed by four of its officers.

The lawsuit claims they have been discriminated against because they can’t meet the department’s shaving requirement.

The officers say they have a medical condition that makes shaving their skin painful. They say the condition affects men of color.

The officers say they have since been put on desk duty and denied chances for promotions or overtime because of it.

Nassau police say they can’t comment on pending litigation.
