Suffolk County police say a man was seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash Saturday afternoon in Melville.

Detectives say 58-year-old Nadil Ceka, of Brooklyn, was standing on the shoulder of Bagatelle Road near Dix Woods Drive looking at a disabled vehicle when a passing vehicle struck him at 1:10 p.m.

The driver of the car, possibly a gray Hyundai, then fled southbound on Bagatelle Road, according to police.

Ceka was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip with serious injuries that were not life-threatening.
