The city is diving into new technology and innovation to tackle the climate crisis.

The New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) says it invested $100 million into BATWorks. This new space is working as a climate innovation hub.

NYCEDC projects it will create 600 jobs, serve 150 startups over a 10-year period and create over $2.6 billion in revenue for the city.

The new hub will be located at the Brooklyn Navy Terminal.

"This will be about 150,000 square feet of really dynamic space that's activated not just for the companies, but for community programing, for convening and the spillover effect in the rest of the building, in terms of providing new tenant opportunities and jobs will be immense," said Andrew Kimball, CEO of NYCEDC.

The BATWorks hub is currently operating in a temporary facility but expected to be in the new space by 2028.
