Heart transplant survivor and Town of North Hempstead raise flag for organ donor awareness

A heart transplant survivor from Hicksville met with the Town of North Hempstead to raise the flag for organ donor awareness.

Jennifer Lentini started her transplant journey when she was 13 years old.

"April is National Donate Life Month across the country, but our efforts won't end simply when the month ends because the Town of North Hempstead is committed to encouraging more Long Islanders to become lifesaving donors," says North Hempstead Town Supervisor, Jennifer Desena.

The United Network for Organ Sharing says there are nearly 8,000 people waiting for a lifesaving transplant in New York.
