Woman behind iconic Wildwood tram car phrase sues company for using her voice
The lawsuit alleges that Floss Stingel’s voice was used without her explicit consent.

New Jersey residents may not know her name – but they certainly know her voice.
Floss Stingel – whose voice is known for the signature “Watch the tram car, please” phrase heard at the Wildwood Boardwalk is suing Wildwood Tram Car Operators.
According to her attorney, Stingel recorded the iconic phrase into a tape recorder in 1971 at the request of her boyfriend, who at the time was an employee of the tram car operators.
The lawsuit alleges that Stingel’s voice was used without her explicit consent.
It also claims that the company gained significant commercial benefits from Stingel’s voice without giving her any compensation.
The tram car shuttles more than 500,000 people annually along the two miles of the Wildwood Boardwalk.
