A former teacher is suing the Diocese of Rockville Centre over his firing at the Maria Regina School in Seaford.

Michael Califano says he was terminated after officials with the diocese saw a social media post of him kissing his boyfriend. He believes he was fired because he is gay.

Califano filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against the Diocese of Rockville Centre.

The diocese did not comment about the lawsuit, but previously said that Califano was not fired because of his sexuality.
