Several Baldwin restaurants impacted by water main break

Some Baldwin restaurant owners said Friday's water main break and subsequent boil-water advisory impacted businesses during the first half of the weekend.

“We couldn’t use the bathroom. I went out, I bought jugs of Poland Spring water, extra hand sanitizer,” Erickson said.
By Saturday night, Liberty Water officials told News 12 that all water to affected customers was restored after repairs to the water main break were completed.
A boil-water advisory was issued for Liberty Water customers in Baldwin, Island Park, Oceanside, Roosevelt and South Hempstead.
Juan Carlos, a co-owner of the Allegro Italian and Mexican Restaurant, said his business was minimally impacted.
“We use water to make our dough, pizza dough, but since we made dough the previous day, just yesterday, we don’t need to boil the water,” he said.
Some restaurant owners told News 12 that they only use filtered water, so they have not been affected by the boil-water advisory. They said that’s one of the reasons they use filtered water.
Every restaurant owner News 12 spoke with said they were doing everything they could to keep their customers and employees safe.
“We have to do what we have to do, right? At least the doors were able to stay open,” said Erickson.
The Nassau County Health Department said Saturday night it will determine when the boil-water notice will be lifted.
