Police are searching for the man they say lit a firework inside an Elmont store.

Detectives say the man walked into the 7-Eleven on Elmont Road Wednesday night, lit a single firework and threw it down one of the aisles.

News 12 has been told the explosion caused damage to store shelves and merchandise.

Police say two additional men were at the scene and ran off.

The Elmont Fire Department responded to the scene to extinguish the flames.

No injuries were reported.
