Sunday marks three years since 24-year-old Nafiah Ikram, of Elmont, was doused with acid in her driveway.

No arrest has been made in the attack.

Ikram suffered severe facial injuries and still has surgeries ahead.

She struggles to see out of one eye.

She said that she’s trying to be “Zen” and not fight the things she can’t control. She’s found solace in journaling and working out.

Ikram said she’s learned that “you have to show up for yourself even on the bad days, because that’s when it really counts.”

She said she’s on leave from school and focusing on her mental health.

Police have said the suspect is a man around 6 feet, 2 inches tall with a skinny build. It’s believed he left the scene in a red Nissan Altima.

Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder said from the inception of the assault case, “the Nassau County Police Department has continued to utilize every investigative resource possible during the course of this investigation. Countless hours of investigative measures with multiple Law Enforcement Agencies assisting at the local, state and federal levels have occurred. This investigation continues to remain open and ongoing as we will not rest until the person(s) responsible are apprehended.”

Ryder said that during a press conference held last year with Nafiah and her family “the NCPD and its federal partners” increased the Crime Stoppers Reward to $50,000.

Authorities urge anyone with information or leads in this case to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. Tips are anonymous.
