A salt spa is a place where salt is aerosolized and pumped into a room so that the customers are breathing in dry salt.
"Salt is antibacterial and antimicrobial. So when you breathe it, it goes into your airways and it cleans out the allergens and pollutants. It's just helping your cells regenerate," says Katherine Hansen, owner of Newtown Salt Spa.
While your mind is relaxing, your body is soaking up the salt.
Vita Vi Wellness, a group that has taken residency in the spa, is a community for women who are ready to reconnect with themselves and others. Their goal is to help people reconnect with themselves through community.
Co-founders of Vita Vi Wellness Jenai Fitzpatrick and Angela Papcsy say they host events and community spaces for a few hours on Friday nights and Sunday afternoons.
Salt Spa sessions are by appointment only.
