A bill that would allow Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) to operate on its own without Public Service Electric & Gas (PSEG) management was unveiled Monday.

The change would take effect in 2025 after a state commission voted to take back control of the grid in November. The change would give customers a say in any rate changes.

PSEG told News 12 in a statement that it is reviewing the legislation.
