Man dies days after being attacked during South Hempstead robbery

A Coram man who pleaded guilty to murdering his housemate was sentenced to 17 years in prison Friday, according to the Suffolk district attorney.

Prosecutors say Albert Coppedge admitted to attacking 62-year-old Kenneth Mitchell after they got into an argument in December 2020. He also robbed Mitchell, according to authorities.

Coopedge was also sentenced to five years of post-release supervision.
