For the third year in a row, Long Island school property taxes are capped at 2%.

The same applies to all of New York state.

State Comptroller Thomas Dinapoli just made the announcement.

Since 2012, the tax cap law limited annual tax levy increases to 2% or the rate of inflation - whichever is lower.

Dinapoli’s office calculated the inflation factor at 4.12% for those with a June 30, 2025 fiscal year end.
