A Lindenhurst man is facing a second-degree murder charge after police say he fatally stabbed his wife outside their home.

A judge arraigned 44-year-old Ryszard Murawski from his hospital bed Friday.

Police say he fatally stabbed his wife, Wioleta Murawski, in front of their 15-year-old son.

As News 12 has previously reported, Wioleta and her 15-year-old son ran to a neighbor's house for help after police say Rsyzard stabbed her.

Police say Ryszard then fled the scene in his vehicle but crashed it nearby.

News 12 spoke to neighbors who described Wioleta as a sweet and kind woman. The community has shown an outpouring of support and has raised over $50,000 for the family.

Murawski is due back in court on Jan. 9.
