A Spring Valley man was killed while walking down Route 59 in Rockland County Wednesday night.

Police say it unfolded around 5:30 p.m. near Fourth Street in Hillburn and was captured by surveillance footage from adjacent warehouses.

The video shows a busy and dimly lit roadway. A man was observed walking northbound along the southbound side of the road when traffic conditions suddenly became heavy.

Ramapo police reported that a southbound 2023 Honda Ridgeline struck the pedestrian. Law enforcement responded and closed a substantial stretch of Route 59.

EMTs transported the victim to Good Samaritan Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

The victim's identity has not been disclosed. Investigators confirmed the Honda driver's cooperation with the Ramapo Police Crash Investigation Team.

Route 59 remained closed for nearly six hours before reopening around 11:30 p.m.
