Police: Woman fatally struck in North Lawrence hit-and-run
This is the second deadly hit-and-run on Long Island in just two days.

Police say a woman died after being hit by a car that didn't stop in North Lawrence Tuesday.
The incident happened at 7:22 p.m.
According to detectives, the woman was crossing Burnside Avenue walking northbound at Washington Place when she was struck by a vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
There is no crosswalk at the intersection where she tried to cross.
Lawrence resident Sarah Perec said the victim is her 30-year-old cousin. She was at the scene Wednesday trying to find answers.
“l can't sleep. I want to see the cameras. Maybe I'll see the car and who did this, but it's nothing," she explained.
Nassau County police are not sharing a description of the vehicle involved for fear that it could impact their investigation.
People who live and work in the area said the hit-and-run came as no surprise.
Sal Hernandez works a few yards away from the accident site at Island Bagel Bar. He's been there for 12 years and said there are constantly issues on Burnside Avenue and nearby streets.
"Everybody jaywalks, especially when they're in a rush. Lot of people speeding, not everyone cautious," explained Hernandez.
