There is a new push to improve access to special technology for those diagnosed with cancer.

Greenlawn father and cancer survivor Hal Siegel joined health care providers Monday to call on Gov. Kathy Hochul to sign biomarker testing legislation.

The bill would enable doctors to use precision medicine and tailor treatment plans to the genetic characteristics of each patient’s cancer.

Siegel says biomarker testing saved his life during his battle with stage 4 melanoma.

Siegel is hoping if the legislation is passed, it can do the same for many others.
