As Black Friday comes to a close, the attention is turning to Main Streets across Long Island for Small Business Saturday.

Around 65.6 million American shoppers are expected to turn out on Small Business Saturday.
But the owners of Levit Jewelers in Massapequa Park say the day has lost its luster over the years.

Dary and Chris Shooshtary say more customers are being lured to big box stores or online shopping, where lower prices can be found.

“They go online, they buy online and they’re taking away from the small businesses. The mom-and-pop shops are feeling it,” Dary Shooshtary says.

The business is offering special deals to customers who ask for a Small Business Saturday discount.

The owners say there’s nothing like the personalized service you get at a local business.

“When you come into a jewelry store you can feel the piece, you can try it on you can see how it looks on you. When they buy online it just comes in the mail,” says Chris Shoostary.
