Police: Woman killed in Patchogue crash

The woman driving the Toyota was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name is being withheld pending notification of her next of kin.

A woman was killed Thursday in a motor vehicle crash in Patchogue, police say.

They say it happened in front of 641 Medford Ave. at around 1:55 p.m.

Police say a Jeep being driven by 48-year-old William Fischer was traveling southbound on Medford Avenue when it crossed over to the northbound lanes and struck a Toyota Camry.

The woman driving the Toyota was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name is being withheld pending notification of her next of kin.

Fischer was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for injuries not considered to be life-threatening.
