Veterans were honored in Islandia on Saturday as part of the grand reopening of the VFW post and ahead of Veterans Day.

Islandia's Mayor and Vietnam veteran Allan Dorman was joined by other veterans, local elected officials and first responders to honor those who served.

The ceremony included a wreath-laying, as well as an inside look at upgrades inside the VFW Post 12144.
