Nassau PD: ‘Violent domestic incident involving handgun’ leaves woman dead, man injured in Uniondale

A 43-year-old woman was fatally shot and a 45-year-old male is in serious condition following a domestic disturbance in Uniondale on Sunday morning, Nassau police said.

According to detectives, it happened after 7 a.m. Officers responded to a 911 call regarding a “violent domestic incident involving a handgun” at 612 Newton Ave.

The Homicide Squad reported that the woman and man were found “in a bedroom unresponsive with gunshot injuries.”

Both were transported to a hospital, where the female was pronounced dead. The male was listed in serious but stable condition as of Sunday night.

Several blocks of Newton Avenue were closed because of the large police presence.

Police did not detail the circumstances surrounding the shooting or it’s investigation. They did not identify the woman or man.
