Anyone heading to Farmingdale will now have to pay to park in most village lots.

It will cost non-residents 50 cents an hour between 5 p.m. and 1 a.m. to park except for Sunday. There is also an app called “Pay by Phone,” which drivers can use. There is a one-time 25-cent fee to start using it.

Angelique Hughes, owner of Fitness on Main St., said the added cost of parking is impacting how often her clients come in to workout and how long they stay.

"While it doesn't sound like a lot, it actually adds up, so if you're coming here five days a week, that's $5 a week...they're limiting how many times, classes that they're coming to, so instead of doing two, they might do one," Hughes said
