State Gaming Commission says 'cybersecurity event' shut down Jake’s 58

A “cybersecurity event” is the blame for the sudden shutdown if Jake’s 58 casino in Islandia, according to the State Gaming Commission.
The revelation comes after the casino was closed Tuesday morning.
A statement from gaming commission spokesperson Brad Maione says,
“On Tuesday, October 17, 2023, Everi, the licensed operator of New York’s video lottery gaming central system, experienced a cybersecurity event that remains under investigation.”
Maione says two casinos were affected, Jake’s 58 and Resorts World Hudson Valley.
Resorts World Hudson Valley was back online quickly, but Jake’s 58 is still closed.
The gaming commission says there’s no indication personal identifiable information was compromised.
“I think it’s scary. You change tickets. They have all your information," says casino visitor Ana Morales-Perez. "Now I’m concerned about it. Now I really have to pay attention to the accounts and everything.”
