Catherine Rinaldi, the interim president of the Long Island Rail Road is stepping down.

She made the announcement early Monday, but says she will still serve as Metro-North president.

Commuters, elected officials and Long Island members of the MTA Board have been calling for the LIRR to have a full-time leader.

Robert Free, the LIRR senior vice president of operations, will become acting president. 

Assemblywoman Michaelle Solages appeared on Power & Politics this weekend to call for a full-time LIRR president. Watch that video below:
