Officials say the train was carrying concrete ties to a site west of Jamaica for scheduled track work. There were no injuries.

LIRR officials say wheels on two cars of a 16-car work train derailed near Queens Village by UBS Arena just after 10 a.m.

Eleven eastbound Thursday night rush hour trains were canceled, and the ones that ran were 15 to 20 minutes late. Westbound service was extremely limited but has since been restored.

This is the second LIRR derailment in about a month. In early August, more than a dozen people were injured when a passenger train slipped off the track in Queens.

The cause of the derailment is still unknown.
