The kindest cuts: Huntington barber shop gives free haircuts ahead of new school year
On the Sunday before the first day of school, Brothers Barber Shop gives complimentary haircuts and braid styles to children.

A Huntington Station barber shop gave free haircuts to kids Sunday to help parents get a financial break amid the back to school rush.
This was the second year Brothers Barber Shop provided the service. Owner David Burgess is known as a barber with the kindest cuts.
"I appreciate that he took his time to do my hair and all the kids in the community," said Phillip Locke, of Huntington.
"We're just trying to show love and spread love throughout the community," Burgess said.
"If you're not put together on the first day and everybody else is, you feel out of place. Look good, feel good, why not?" said volunteer April Adams.
Shawanna Hughes said getting her son Jayden ready for school is expensive and a free haircut is a huge help.
"A haircut for a child is like $20 and this is a beautiful thing. This is a blessing from above," she said.
Burgess said his act of good will is in keeping with his belief that it takes a village to raise a child.
"I remember myself as a kid and going through certain situations where we had hard times coming up, and for us to be able to be in a position to give back, it's our sole duty," he said.
The children also receive backpacks filled with notebooks and pens. The school supplies are donated by the barbershop and local sponsors to send a message of hope to the children.
