Accused Gilgo Beach killer Rex Heuermann is expected in court on Tuesday.

The judge will hear from both the prosecution and the defense about where the case stands against Heuermann.
Former Nassau County prosecutor and criminal law expert Marc Gann says it is possible that Heuermann's attorney could ask for bail for his client. However, he says that attempt would not be successful.
"There's virtually no chance that that's going to happen," Gann says. "First of all, there's no change in circumstances, positively for the defendant - if anything there have been negative consequences in the sense that the government has gone in and the DA and the police have gone in and potentially developed a lot more information to use against him."
Heuermann is being held at a Suffolk County jail without bail.
He is accused of murdering Melissa Barthelemy, Megan Waterman and Amber Costello. Their bodies were found in 2010 on a remote stretch of Gilgo Beach.

Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney says that DNA and cellphone records link Heuermann to the murders.
The defendant's attorney says his client insists he did not commit the killings.
Heuermann has pleaded not guilty to all the charges against him.
Gann says the legal process in the case is likely to be a lengthy and tedious process.
"Normally in a felony case, the prosecution has 180 days to be ready for trial," Gann says. "This is a murder case - speedy trial does not apply to this charge."

Gann also says it could be discussed if the attorney assigned to Heuermann sticks with him.
News 12 reached out to Tierney's office about the status conference but was told he was not available.
